Working on Biographies

This week, the students have been reading and learning about biographies. I had them write their own auto-biography, as well as choose any person that they would like to write a biography on (Past or Modern). Amongst the many of the biography topics were: Abraham Lincoln, Michael Jackson, Drake, Martin Luther King jr., Michael Jordan, and Selena Gomez. They really enjoyed learning about their favorite people as well as writing their own auto-biography.

Reader's Theater

The students love to read and act out plays using Reader's Theater. In this play, How Chipmunk got His Stripes, the kids are each assigned a character and act out the play using different voices and expressions. This helps the students become more fluent and comfortable in their reading.

Chess Champ!

Congratulations to Juan Franco! He won 8th place individual in the chess tournament. We are very proud of him!

Exploring Parks with Ranger Dockett

This week, we have been exploring the characteristics that make up an urban park such as Central Park. In the anthology, the students have been learning about what a day in the life of a park ranger is like. We have also created and decorated a recycling box in our very own classroom.
