New Beginnings

It is the start of a brand new school year! These second graders are busily working and making progress. They have selected their class goals and are working towards them. I predict this will be a great year!

Great Achievements!

As we approach the end of the year, the students revisited their class goals for a final time. The students reflected on ways they each met their goals and on ways they can continue to improve . I am very proud of their hard work and dedication. Together we achieved great things this year!

SAT-10 Working Together

The following our a few of the skills that the students are diligently working on in order to review for the SAT:

~ Reading and practing the 200 most commonly used words.
~ Writing sentences using correct punctuation and capitalization.
~ Recognizing and using nouns and action verbs in sentences.

~ Practicing oral reading fluency and comprehension.
~ Adding and subtracting any 2-digit number.
~ Handling place value concepts for 3-digit whole numbers.
~ Identifying time and elapsed time.
~ Identifying the value of pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, half-dollars, and dollars.

We are all working together and trying our best!!

What a year!!!!! We have been busy learning the past 5 months and doing all sorts of activities. This is one of my student's favorite projects. Each year, my students present their projects to the 1st grade students. They love this activity and in turn, the 1st grade students look forward to doing it in 2nd grade. ;)

Now it's SAT prep time!!!!!!

Welcome to Second Grade!

Hello students and welcome back to school! I hope you all had a wonderful summer. I can't wait to begin an exciting school year packed with learning and fun. Remember to start getting your supplies to be ready for school. Here is the list:

1 large backpack or bookbag (no wheels)
1 pencil pouch
6 folders with pockets and fasteners
6 notebooks
Pack of 4 glue sticks
2 boxes 24-36 Ct. boxes of crayons
1 blunt edge scissors (no plastic)
1 box colored pencils
1 large eraser
1 ruler
2 pack of wide ruled notebook paper (no college ruled)
1 covered pencil sharpener
24-36 pencils
1 pack of wipes
1 box of tissues
1 hand sanitizer (boys)
1 roll of paper towels (girls)

Parents:
Remember that your child must bring at least 2 sharpened pencils everyday to class.
Most of these items will be staying in class. Please make sure you buy enough supplies to keep at home for learning.

La mayoria de estos utiles se quedaran en la clase. Por favor, asegurese de comprar extras para la tarea en casa y para cuando su nino(a) lo necesite.
Recuerde que su nino(a) debe traer a la escuela 2 lapices con punta todos los dias.
